Destination Wedding
Published Monday, February 1st 2016 - Updated Monday, February 1st 2016When it comes to getting married there are several things to consider and several decisions to be made. Some of the hardest decisions to make can be the venue, cake (flavors, tiers, colors, etc.), flowers, bridesmaids dresses, wedding dress, tuxedos, food, who to invite and budget just to name a few. Moreover, its important for a couple to guarantee their wedding is completely them. The burden of having to make all of these decisions can have a negative impact on the relationship. It also has the ability to take the fun and excitement out of the fact that your getting married to the love of your life. Since bearing the burden of all of these extremely important decisions can drive a couple crazy; I've come up with a few practical reasons why a Destination Wedding maybe the best fit.
Firstly, destination weddings are completely stress free because it guarantees your wedding will be simple yet unique. Honeymoon resorts and cruise lines around the world have made it easier and more appealing to get hitched. There are many F/T wedding coordinators that are familiar with a country's marriage license requirements and wedding packages. You have the ability to hire a stateside wedding planner whose staff can help take the responsibilities off of your plate. Secondly, getting married thousands of miles away from home can alleviate the family drama. Weddings are about two people sharing a life together and definitely no scene stealing family drama. If you have two families that are present and in rapport that's outstanding but if not who needs all the negative stuff. Thirdly, destination weddings can be pretty affordable. You can find an all-inclusive package deal for a couple thousand dollars whereas an average wedding of 150-200 guests can average anywhere from $30,000-$100,000. Furthermore, you call the shots. Formal weddings tend to link couples to their ancestry and cultural traditions. So, on a destination wedding whether it's a snowy mountain-peak or a tropical paradise....it's up to you. More importantly, a destination wedding is perfect for second marriages and/or vowel renewals. If your on your second or third marriage and have already had the big production wedding and are looking to do something simple and private this is the perfect idea. On the other hand, if your already married and have been for sometime and may have also had the big production but are just looking to renew those precious vows then this time around you may be looking for something quiet and inexpensive and a destination wedding works just as well if not better. Lastly, a destination wedding is a once in a lifetime reunion opportunity. Typical weddings have an "on the run" feel but destination weddings are on vacation time so there is no such thing as fast paced. It allows "no rush" quality time with family and friends that you usually wouldn't be allotted the time for.
I feel that destination weddings are a great way to guarantee your wedding is completely you, affordable and on your own terms. I know we talked a lot about getting married but the trick is staying married. So, with that being said, don't say "Yes" to the person you can live/vacation with, say "Yes" to the person you can't live/vacation withOUT.
