At least that's what I told myself before I allowed our tour guide to slide me off of a rock and into the deep waters of Dunns’ River Falls. As l was aided into the water my intention was to open my eyes and close my nose but for some strange reason when I hit water the exact opposite happened. I could hear the faint screams of my mother from above as she watched while being guided on the dry run of the tour. After going under twice and swallowing what felt like a gallon of water, I reached the surface and at that very moment I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. For someone who is unable to swim you would think this experience would have been a complete nightmare but it was actually one of the most freeing experiences I've had in some time. Often times it takes stepping out of your comfort zone to realize who we are and equally important; what we're made of.

It's tradition that we hold an annual Family and Friends trip. It typically shifts between a cruise or land vacation. It affords us the opportunity to get together to celebrate recent graduations, business ventures, engagements, pregnancies, etc. This year our destination was Montego Bay, Jamaica by way of land. We stayed 2 nights at Breathless Resorts and Spas and the remainder of the trip was with RIU Reggae Hotels and Resorts. Our yearly vacation grants us the ability to bond while create lifelong memories. Generally our everyday lives don't usually permits quality time with our family and friends. Furthermore, you may sometimes find our everyday lives aren't always synonymous with the way in which other family members live theirs. The beauty of vacationing is that there are different type of travelers. Although your day to day lives may not be similar the way you vacation may be comparable. With that being said I had the ability to spend much needed quality time with an older cousin of mine that I don't typically 'hang out' with. It was such an awesome experience to bond through activities, dinner and just girl chat while hanging out at the lobby bar.

Upon our arrival at Breathless Resorts and Spa and RIU Reggae we were greeted by a bellman who quickly gathered our luggage. We were then led to the reception area where we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. We were advised that specialty cocktails were offered upon request. Breathless has the only rooftop pool and bar in Jamaica.  With its state of the art technology, floor to ceiling glass doors, outdoor Jacuzzi and infinity pools are just a few of the things that made Breathless a 4🌟 resort. Breathless Resorts and Spa had a very tranquil feel. This resort is best for travelers looking for rest and relaxation.  RIU Reggae had a slightly different feel than Breathless. On the other hand, RIU Reggae had more of a vivacious and enthusiastic energy. With their daily pool and beach parties, live entertainment, resort night club and its close proximity to the airport; there is always some action happening at RIU Reggae.

No matter what interests or desires you had there was always someone around to enjoy it with. Daily we were up at the crack of dawn and still possessed enough energy to party the nights away.  There wasn't an adventure we weren't willing to to take part in. Its overall welcoming spirit, energy and surplus of adventure are just a few reasons Jamaica makes the cut for my top ten places to visit. Just remember to take advantage of all the awesome opportunities, relationships and adventures that traveling affords.
